Clean Gandhidham

AAS “Aim for the Awareness of Society proposes to carry out provide technical, managerial and handholding support in planning of door to door awareness, coordinate with  Kandla Area & Gandhidham Nagar Palika and support to enhance waste collection & transportation through proper route planning, guidance of the management of workforce already working on the attendance, adherence to safety norms, day-to-day records maintenance of waste (both dry and wet), help in machinery installation and smooth running, composting of wet waste, selling of compost and dry waste and other operational tasks as necessary. Provide handholding support to the SHG men & women in engaging at the MRF and ensure their safety, health and social security.  Its specific objectives are to:

 

·       Ensure proper segregation, collection and transportation of waste to reduce open dumping sites in the wards, improve the cleanliness in wards and prevent environmental pollution 

 

·       Build the capacity of Kandla Area & GNP in decentralized governance and strengthen their technical expertise for effective solid waste management.

 

·       Promote citizens’ engagement in planning and public monitoring of solid waste management to improve transparency, accountability, and responsiveness of KA/GNP

 

·       Demonstrate an effective and financially sustainable model for decentralized solid waste management that can be replicated and scaled up by other District Level Authority for other ULBs.

 

·       Ensure better management of waste through the promotion of home composting and establish forward linkages with recyclers/kabadiwalas.

 

·       Improve the quality of life of waste and sanitation workers, promotes health and safety and help them in gaining financial independence while ensuring social security by linking them to the various social welfare scheme.
