Zero Waste Airport
The Zero Waste Airport Project is a comprehensive initiative by AAS and IndiGo aimed at revolutionizing waste management in the aviation sector. By implementing the 4R strategy and fostering a culture of sustainability, the project seeks to minimize environmental impact while promoting responsible resource use. Through effective behavioural change, training, and stakeholder engagement, the project will establish a model for sustainable waste management that can be replicated across the industry.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
Our objective is to implement Zero Waste activities through 4R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover) at the airport, to ensure effective waste management practices for collection, segregation, storage, safe handling, and disposal of waste and comply through Standard Operating Procedure. These all could be carried out with an effective behavioural change, training of staff, capacity building of stakeholders.
· Spread awareness and behaviour change through public awareness on promotion of Zero Waste through Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover.
· To waste minimization / reuse and efficiency as an integral part of airport operation with environmental friendly manner
· Strategies for achieving effective stakeholder participation, housekeeping training and mass action covering airport area.
· Improve the collection, transportation and explore for the promotion of resource conservation
· Develop a plan to onsite processing and reuse of C&D waste also make plan for plastic waste recycling.
